The Romanian-American University automatically recognizes teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, according to the recognition procedure described below.

Eligibility
Eligible to submit applications for the recognition of teaching positions are applicants (Romanian citizens or citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation, as well as citizens from third countries who hold teaching positions obtained in:
- accredited higher education or research and development institutions in a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation;
- accredited higher education or research and development institutions included in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Research, updated periodically.
For teaching positions obtained at other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned above, these are recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or inter-university level.

The Romanian-American University reserves the right to consult, in justified situations - before making a decision regarding any of the received applications - the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED) and the National Council for Attestation of Titles, Diplomas and University Certificates (CNATDCU).
The automatic recognition of teaching positions obtained abroad may apply in the case of participation in a competition for occupying a teaching or research position, or other teaching activities carried out within the Romanian-American University. The automatic recognition of the teaching position obtained abroad must be carried out before the competition for occupying a teaching position within the Romanian-American University, if the applicant wishes to participate in the competition. Based on university autonomy, the occupation of a teaching position within the Romanian-American University is carried out in accordance with the applicable legal regulations and its own methodologies.

The status of university teaching staff is found at position no. A8 in Annex no. 2 of Law no. 200/2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania, with subsequent amendments and completions.*

Doctoral diploma, in copy and, as the case may be, legalized translation, if it is obtained at higher education institutions in Romania or at accredited university education institutions from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation or at accredited university education institutions included in the List of prestigious universities from other countries; Doctoral diploma and its recognition certificate issued by the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED), if the diploma is obtained at other institutions (than those obtained in the countries mentioned in the previous paragraph) of higher education abroad, in legalized copy; Proof of holding the respective teaching position, issued by the higher education institution abroad, translated and legalized copy, usually in the form of a certificate which must obligatorily include the applicant’s first and last name, the teaching position held by them and the date of confirmation in that position.*

Appeal routes
The decision may be contested within 30 days from the date of communication, by means of a motivated request submitted to the University Registry. Appeals are resolved within 5 days by the appeals settlement committee composed of 5 members appointed by the Rector's decision. The response to the appeal is communicated directly, by email or by mail/courier company, to the applicant or the person authorized by them, based on signature and a certain date, by the Human Resources Service, within 5 days from the date the appeal is resolved. The procedure is drafted and approved based on O.M. no. 5922/2016.
