Institutional procedure for the recognition at UPT of academic teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad*

This procedure applies at the Politehnica University Timișoara (UPT) for the recognition of academic teaching positions from accredited higher education institutions abroad.
In accordance with legal provisions and this procedure, UPT recognizes the teaching positions of Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union member states, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, and citizens from third countries, as follows:
- Teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions from European Union member states, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other countries included in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the minister of national education and scientific research and periodically updated, are automatically recognized by UPT.
- Teaching positions obtained at other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned at letter a) are recognized only on the basis of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
UPT consults, if necessary, the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (hereinafter referred to as CNRED) and the National Council for Attestation of Titles, Diplomas and University Certificates.
The occupation of a teaching position at the Politehnica University Timișoara is carried out according to the legal provisions in force.
Art. 2.
The recognition of teaching positions by UPT, in accordance with this procedure, is valid and produces legal effects at the UPT level. In the situation where the recognition of the teaching position was carried out by CNRED, it is valid and produces legal effects throughout the territory of Romania.

The applicant may contest the issued decision under the conditions of art.5, within 10 days from the notification. The appeal must be formulated in writing and submitted to the UPT Registry, either in person or by mail. In case the appeal is sent by mail, the date of the appeal is considered the date on which the UPT staff member signs the receipt confirmation, and in case of submission to the UPT Registry, the date of registration of the appeal. The appeal is resolved by the appeals committee within a maximum of 30 days from registration. The committee's decision is communicated to the applicant and is final in the administrative procedure.
