The state allowance for children is a form of state protection granted to all children, without discrimination.
(2) All children up to the age of 18 benefit from the state allowance for children.
(3) The state allowance for children is also granted to young people who have turned 18 and are attending high school or vocational courses, organized under the conditions of the law, until their completion.
(4) The young people referred to in paragraph (3) who are repeating the school year do not benefit from the state allowance, except for those who are repeating due to health reasons, proven by a medical certificate.
The children of foreign citizens and stateless persons residing in Romania also benefit from the state allowance for children, under the conditions of the law, if they live together with their parents.

- Supporting documents regarding the applicant's status and their relationship with the child/children for whom the benefit is requested, for one of the persons who adopted the child/ to whom the child was entrusted for adoption or after divorce/ who has the child in foster care/ in emergency foster care, as well as the person who was appointed as guardian; - if applicable, etc.
- Form E411 or supporting document from the respective state – for children born in the EU if the parents/ or one of the parents works in an EU member state and is on the territory of that state;
