The state allowance for children is granted to all children up to the age of 18, without discrimination. The state allowance for children is also granted to young people who have reached the age of 18, who are attending high school or vocational education courses, organized according to the law, until their completion, except for those who are repeating the school year, except for those who repeat due to health reasons, proven by a medical certificate.

Children of foreign citizens and stateless persons who are residents in Romania, under the law, are also entitled to the state allowance for children, if they live together with their parents.
