In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, targeting students in public primary and secondary education, full-time courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with bullet-point school supplies specific to each class are distributed.

The composition of the school supplies packages granted to students is established based on the Methodology for the application of the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 on granting school supplies.

The financing request submitted by the Ministry of National Education in early September 2017, through the Operational Program for Aid to Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschool children, as well as the addition of backpacks to the supply packages granted to students in primary and secondary school.
