In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which is addressed to students in state primary and secondary education, day courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each class are distributed.
The composition of the school supplies packages given to students is established based on the Methodology for the Implementation of the Provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.
Funding request submitted by the Ministry of National Education at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program for Assistance to Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting from this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers and the supplementation with backpacks of the supplies packages granted to students in primary and secondary education.
