In order to stimulate school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which is addressed to students in state primary and lower secondary education, day courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each grade are distributed.

The composition of the packages of school supplies granted to students is established based on the Methodology for applying the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for approving the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.

The financing application submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program Aid for Disadvantaged People (POAD) 2014-2020 was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, and the supplementation with backpacks of the packages of supplies granted to students from the primary and lower secondary cycle.
