Procedure regarding the automatic recognition of the quality of doctoral supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad*

Through this procedure, the quality of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained in an accredited foreign higher education institution listed in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, or in accredited higher education institutions that are subject to an international convention of mutual recognition concluded at intergovernmental or inter-university level, is recognized. It applies to citizens of a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation.

The deadline for resolving the recognition file is 30 days from the moment the application is submitted, and the appeal can be filed within 30 days from the communication of the result, and its resolution is made within a maximum of 90 days from the appeal. The recognition file is evaluated by an evaluation committee, made up of three teaching staff members appointed by the Department Council that manages the branch of science in which the doctoral title is awarded and issues a decision regarding the recognition request, which is validated by the Department Council. The teaching staff members in the committee must have a doctoral title in the same branch of science or in a related branch. Appeals are subject to approval by the University Senate, which appoints a re-evaluation committee, consisting of three teaching staff members different from those who were part of the initial committee, to re-analyze the recognition file. The decision of the committee appointed by the senate is final and is validated at the first meeting of this body.
