Authorization represents the procedure which enables legal persons to perform precious metals and precious stones operations, that is materialized through the issuance of the authorization document by the National Authority for Consumers' Protection, that has legal value of individual administrative act, in favor of its holder. The authorization is issued for an indefinite period and it is annually vised.

In order to obtain authorization to carry out operations with precious metals and precious stones, the interested economic operator shall submit a request to the National Authority for Consumer Protection requesting authorization. If economic operators are dissatisfied with the outcome of the request, they may submit a complaint within the deadlines and under the conditions provided by Law no. 554/2004 on administrative litigation, as subsequently amended and supplemented. The necessary documents can be accessed on the website of the National Authority for Consumer Protection at: www.anpc.gov.ro or at the headquarters of the Precious Metals Directorate in Bucharest, Str. Fabrica de Chibrituri no. 30, State Mint premises, entrance no. 3, sector 5.
