The National Assessment for 8th grade students represents the method of external summative evaluation of the competencies acquired during lower secondary education.
The exam is held annually in a single session. Both candidates from public education and those from private education have the right to take the NA free of charge.
The average obtained at NA VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
The national coordination of the planning, organization, and implementation of NA VIII, as well as the utilization of their results, is ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for pe Assessment and Examination (NCEE).
The drafting of specific evaluation procedures is carried out by the NCEE, following consultations with the ministry's specialized departments.
The county/Bucharest municipality coordination of the organization of NA VIII, as well as the utilization of their results, is ensured by the county school inspectorate.
