In order to stimulate school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which is aimed at students in public primary and lower secondary education, full-time. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each grade are distributed.

The contents of the school supply packages granted to students are determined based on the Methodology for the implementation of the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the provision of school supplies.

Funding request submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program for Aid to Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, and the addition of backpacks to the packages of school supplies granted to students in primary and lower secondary education.
