The maternal assistant is the natural person, certified under the conditions of Ordinance no.27/01.08.2024 regarding the conditions for obtaining the certificate, the certification procedure and the status of the maternal assistant, who provides in his/her home or, as the case may be, at his/her residence the upbringing, care, and education of the child during the implementation of the special protection measure of placement, emergency placement for the child separated, temporarily or permanently, from his/her parents or, as the case may be, during the respite period of another maternal assistant;

The evaluation, training of PFAM (persons, families, maternal assistant), certification of MA (maternal assistant) and monitoring of PFAM, involves the step-by-step process of evaluating the capacity of persons requesting to become a foster person/family or maternal assistant and subsequently visiting them at home, according to the legislation in force.

The stages prior to starting the evaluation process, PFAM training, and certification as MA consist in informing the applicant, by a representative of the service, regarding the responsibilities incumbent upon him/her in the activity of raising and caring for a child beneficiary of a special protection measure.
