- This procedure regulates the automatic recognition at the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești, as IOSUD, of the status of doctoral supervisor and of the rights granted by this status, for the purpose of affiliation to the doctoral school(s) within the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești.
- The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union member states, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, as well as citizens from third party states.
- The process of recognition of the status of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained in accredited higher education institutions in European Union member states, in the European Economic Area, in the Swiss Confederation and in prestigious universities from other states stipulated in the List of prestigious universities from other states is organized and carried out within the Doctoral School of the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiești.
- Only in the case of temporary exercise, the provisions of Law no. 200/2004 and Art. 296 of National Education Law no. 1/2011 apply directly:
- (1) Reserved, vacant or temporarily vacant teaching positions are to be filled with priority by the tenured teaching staff of the institution or by associated teaching staff, through hourly payment, in accordance with this law.
- (2) The employment of specialists with recognized scientific and professional value in the field, from the country or abroad, as invited associated teaching staff, is approved by the department council and must be validated by the administration board.
- The exercise of the rights conferred by the status of doctoral supervisor and the occupation of a teaching position in the Romanian higher education system is carried out according to the legal regulations in force.

The status of doctoral supervisor is found at position no. A.8 from Annex 2 of Law no. 200 of 2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania, with subsequent amendments and completions.*
