The procedure establishes the method by which, at the request of the concerned individuals, ATHENAEUM University of Bucharest recognizes the doctorate diploma and the title of Doctor of Science or in a professional field obtained from:
a) accredited institutions of higher education or research and development from an EU, EEA member state, and from the EEC;
b) accredited institutions of higher education or research and development included in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by Order no. 5462/2018 and periodically updated;
c) accredited institutions of higher education or research and development that are the subject of an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
The recognition of the doctorate diploma and the title of Doctor of Science obtained abroad based on the present procedure is valid and produces legal effects only at the level of Athenaeum University of Bucharest and is carried out for the purpose of:
a) occupying, for a determined period, vacant academic positions as an associate teaching staff member;
b) participation in a competition for occupying a vacant teaching or research position within Athenaeum University – with employment on an indefinite period;
c) enrollment in postgraduate programs.

The teaching profession (or doctoral supervisor) is found at position no. A.8 in Annex no. 2 of Law no. 200 of 2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania with subsequent amendments and additions.*

Appeal routes
The decision of non-recognition may be contested only once, within 15 calendar days from notification, by submitting a reasoned request to the Registry of Athenaeum University of Bucharest or by sending it to the email address secretariat@univath.ro.
Appeals are resolved and communicated to applicants within 30 calendar days from registration. Following the appeal, the final decision of recognition or non-recognition may be challenged before the competent courts.
