The procedure regulates the manner of entering mentions regarding the registration of names/surnames with the spelling of the mother tongue.

The person whose surname or first name has been registered in civil status documents translated into a language other than the mother tongue or with the spelling of another language may request the entry—by a mention on the margin of these documents—of the surname or first name retranslated or with the spelling of the mother tongue, both in the sections concerning the holder and those relating to his/her parents.

The application is submitted to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, to the town hall of the administrative-territorial unit of domicile or directly to the S.P.C.L.E.P. or, as the case may be, at the headquarters of the town hall which holds the civil status document.
