Recognition of specific initial training for the teaching career in pre-university education in Romania*

Recognition of specific initial training for the teaching career in pre-university education in Romania consists of the evaluation and compatibility of the level, field and/or specialization completed in member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, in the Swiss Confederation and abroad by reference to the Romanian education system, taking into account the conditions for exercising the teaching profession in pre-university education in Romania.

Recognition is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Research, through the General Directorate of Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-university Education, the competent authority for the teaching profession in pre-university education and it can be finalized by issuing a certificate recognizing the right to exercise the teaching profession in pre-university education in Romania, by which the holder is granted the right to register for the competition for vacant/reserved positions/chairs in a pre-university educational institution in Romania, under the conditions provided by current legislation.

The decision of the General Directorate for Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-university Education may be contested only once, within 15 working days from the date of acknowledgement, by means of a reasoned request.

The General Directorate for Management, Teaching Career and School Network in Pre-university Education shall rule on the requests within 45 working days. The resolution period may be extended in justified cases, with the applicant being informed accordingly.

The decision to reject the appeal may be challenged by the applicant in court.
