In order to stimulate school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, which is addressed to students in public primary and lower secondary education, day classes. At the beginning of each school year, packages with school supplies specific to each class are distributed.

The composition of the school supplies packages granted to students is established based on the Methodology for the application of the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 on the granting of school supplies.

The financing request submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program for Aid to Disadvantaged Persons (POAD) 2014-2020, was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschoolers, as well as the addition of backpacks to the supplies packages granted to students in the primary and lower secondary cycles.
