The procedure establishes the method of analyzing requests for the authorization/extension of authorization of legal entities. The applicant legal entity submits to the headquarters of the territorial unit of BRML (Regional Directorate of Legal Metrology or the County Service of Legal Metrology) in whose jurisdiction it is registered a letter of intent, accompanied by a list of the assortments/sub-assortments of measuring instruments and the types of metrological verifications for which it requests the authorization of the metrology laboratory.
Appeals: in accordance with the provisions of art. 29(1) of the legal metrology instructions IML5-05 Authorization of natural and legal persons performing metrological verifications, approved by Government Decision no. 1660/2005, as subsequently amended and supplemented, any decision to refuse authorization is properly motivated, communicated to the applicant within 10 working days from the date it is taken, and the decision specifies the applicant’s possibility to address the competent courts, under the conditions of the law.

The letter of intent is an official document, which precedes the authorization request through which an economic operator expresses their intention to authorize/extend the authorization of their own metrology laboratory for carrying out metrological verification of measuring instruments subject to legal metrological control. If the metrology laboratory operates in multiple locations, the list of varieties/sub-varieties of measuring instruments and types of metrological verifications will be drawn up for each location separately. For a new evaluation process, the letter of intent will also be submitted in the situation where DRML/SJML has communicated to the applicant the refusal of the authorization request in its entirety or the conclusion of the previous authorization process.*
