The National Assessment for 8th grade students represents the external summative evaluation method of the competencies acquired during middle school.
The exam takes place annually, in a single session. Both candidates from public education and those from private education have the right to take the NA free of charge.
The average obtained at NA VIII is a decisive criterion for admission to high school education.
The national coordination of the planning, organization, and conduct of NA VIII, as well as the utilization of its results, are ensured by the Ministry of Education through the National Center for Assessment and Examination (NCAE).
The development of specific assessment procedures is carried out by the NCAE, following consultation with specialized departments of the ministry.
The coordination at the county/Bucharest municipality level of the organization of NA VIII, as well as the utilization of its results, is ensured by the School Inspectorate.
