In order to encourage school attendance, in 2002 the School Supplies Program was launched, targeting students in state primary and lower secondary education, day courses. At the beginning of each school year, packages containing school supplies specific to each class are distributed.

The composition of the school supplies packages given to students is established based on the Methodology for applying the provisions of Law no. 126/2002 for the approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 33/2001 regarding the granting of school supplies.

Funding request submitted by the Ministry of National Education, at the beginning of September 2017, through the Operational Program for Aid to Disadvantaged People (POAD) 2014-2020 was approved. The decision allows, starting with this school year, the purchase of supplies for preschool children, as well as the supplementation with backpacks of the supply packages given to students in primary and lower secondary cycles.
