Institutional procedure for the recognition at UPT of academic teaching positions obtained in accredited foreign university institutions*
This procedure applies at the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) for the recognition of academic teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad.
In accordance with the legal provisions and the present procedure, UPT recognizes the teaching positions of Romanian citizens, citizens of European Union member states, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, and of citizens from third countries, as follows:
- Academic teaching positions obtained in accredited higher education institutions from European Union member states, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other states included in the List of Prestigious Universities from Other States, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and periodically updated, are automatically recognized by UPT.
- Academic teaching positions obtained from other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned in point a) are recognized only based on an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
UPT consults, if necessary, the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (hereinafter referred to as CNRED) and the National Council for Attestation of Titles, Diplomas and University Certificates.
The occupation of a teaching position at the Politehnica University of Timișoara is carried out in accordance with the legal regulations in force.
Art. 2.
The recognition of teaching positions by UPT, according to this procedure, is valid and produces legal effects at the level of UPT. If the recognition of the teaching position has been done by CNRED, it is valid and produces legal effects throughout the entire territory of Romania.
*Institutional Procedure for the recognition in IOSUD - UPT of the doctoral supervisor status obtained in accredited foreign higher education institutions*
This procedure applies at the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) for the recognition of the title of doctoral supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, in the fields of doctoral university studies accredited in IOSUD-UPT.
UPT recognizes the title of doctoral supervisor for Romanian citizens, citizens from member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and citizens from third countries, who have obtained this qualification as follows:
- in accredited higher education institutions from member states of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other states listed in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and updated periodically.
- The title of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained from other accredited higher education institutions abroad, other than those mentioned in letter a), is recognized only based on an international mutual recognition agreement concluded at intergovernmental or inter-university level.
UPT consults, if necessary, the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (hereinafter referred to as CNRED) and the National Council for the Certification of Titles, Diplomas, and University Certificates.
Art. 2.
The recognition of the title of doctoral supervisor or habilitation by UPT, according to this procedure, is valid and produces legal effects at UPT’s level. The exercise of the rights conferred by the title of doctoral supervisor and the occupation of a teaching position in the Romanian higher education system are carried out in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
In the event that the recognition of the title of doctoral supervisor or habilitation has been carried out by CNRED, this is valid and produces legal effects throughout the territory of Romania.
IOSUD Procedure - Methodology regarding the recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field obtained abroad*
This methodology describes the steps for the recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field obtained abroad by Romanian citizens, citizens of EU member states, of the European Economic Area, from the Swiss Confederation, and citizens from third countries.
The methodology applies within IOSUD-UPT regarding the recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field obtained abroad by Romanian citizens, citizens of EU member states, of the European Economic Area, from the Swiss Confederation, and citizens from third countries.
Art.1.
(1) IOSUD UPT through the Doctoral School automatically recognizes the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field
obtained at:
a) accredited higher education institutions from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation;
b) accredited higher education institutions from outside the countries provided at letter a), which are among the most prestigious higher education institutions in the world, according to the provisions of the Order of the Minister of Education no. 4002/12.03.2024 regarding the approval of the list of prestigious universities from other states.
(2) IOSUD- UPT through the Doctoral School recognizes the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field obtained at accredited higher education institutions based on an international convention of mutual recognition, concluded at an intergovernmental level.
(3) IOSUD-UPT through the Doctoral School recognizes the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field obtained at accredited higher education institutions from states other than those provided in par. (1) or (2).
(4) Recognition by IOSUD - UPT is carried out for the purpose of enrollment in postgraduate study programs, obtaining habilitation, holding a teaching or research position within IOSUD UPT, participation in programs and projects funded by European and international funds or for other purposes related to teaching and research activity within IOSUD UPT.
Art.2. The recognition of doctoral diplomas and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, for purposes other than those provided in art.1, is carried out by CNRED.
