Professional Maternal Assistant Certification Procedure*
The professional maternal assistant is the individual, certified under the conditions of the law, who, through the activity carried out at their home, ensures the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children placed in their care.
Persons residing in the territorial area of Teleorman county, interested in becoming a maternal assistant, shall submit to the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Teleorman a request for the evaluation of their capacity, accompanied by the documents mentioned below.The certificate is issued by the Child Protection Commission and is valid for 3 years.
Only persons who meet the following conditions can be certified as professional maternal assistants:
- have full exercise capacity;
- through their behavior in society, state of health, and psychological profile, provide guarantees for the correct fulfillment of the obligations incumbent on a parent, regarding the upbringing, care, and education of their children;
- have at their disposal a dwelling that covers the needs of food preparation, hygiene, education, and rest of its users, including the children who are to be received in placement or entrustment;
- have attended the professional training courses organized by the specialized public child protection service or the authorized private entity that carries out the evaluation for granting the certificate of professional maternal assistant.
Cannot be a professional maternal assistant:
- the person who has been convicted by a final court decision for intentionally committing a crime;
- the parent deprived of parental rights or the one whose child has been declared abandoned by a final court decision;
- the person who suffers from chronic communicable diseases.
The person who is engaged in salaried employment may become a professional maternal assistant only on condition of terminating the individual employment contract under which they carry out the respective salaried activity.
