Recognition of qualifications and teaching positions by the Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad*

This methodology applies within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of ”Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad.
Teaching positions obtained at other accredited higher education institutions than those mentioned above are recognized only based on an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
Recognition of the doctoral diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad*
The procedure is described in Methodology regarding the recognition of the PhD diploma in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, as well as the status of PhD supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, approved by the Senate of "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad on 25.07.2019. This methodology applies within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of ”Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad.
Are eligible to submit applications for the recognition of the PhD diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field, at ”Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, applicants who have obtained the title of doctor at:
a) accredited higher education or research-development institutions from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation;
b) accredited higher education or research-development institutions included in the List of prestigious universities from other countries, approved by order of the minister of national education and scientific research, updated periodically;
c) accredited higher education or research-development institutions that are subject to an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
All applicants who have obtained the PhD diploma and the title of doctor at accredited higher education or research-development institutions abroad, other than those provided above, shall address the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas, hereinafter referred to as N.C.R.E.D., for the recognition of the PhD diploma and the title of doctor in sciences or in a professional field.
The applicant’s file will contain:
a) application for recognition;
b) identity document - copy and proof of name change - copy and legalized translation (if applicable);
c) PhD diploma;
d) curriculum vitae and list of publications and scientific contributions
The study documents subject to recognition are authenticated with the Hague Apostille for countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, and for other countries the study documents are superlegalized or accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the competent authorities from the country of origin. Dispensation from apostille or superlegalization is permitted under the law, an international treaty to which Romania is a party, or on the basis of reciprocity.
The applicant’s file for the recognition of the PhD diploma obtained abroad by ”Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad is sent, in the first stage by e-mail: rectorat@uav.ro, subject: PhD diploma/PhD title recognition. The file is registered after document verification.
*Automatic recognition, by “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad, of the doctoral supervisor qualification obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad*
The procedure is described in Methodology regarding the recognition of the doctoral degree in sciences or in a professional field, obtained abroad, as well as the status of doctoral supervisor obtained in accredited higher education institutions abroad, approved by the Senate of the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad on 25.07.2019. This methodology applies within the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.
The status of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained in accredited higher education institutions from member states of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation, and in prestigious universities from other states provided in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and periodically updated, is automatically recognized by the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad.
The status of doctoral supervisor or habilitation obtained at other accredited higher education institutions abroad, other than those mentioned above, is recognized only based on an international mutual recognition agreement, concluded at intergovernmental or interuniversity level.
The provisions of this procedure apply to Romanian citizens, citizens from member states of the European Union, of the European Economic Area, of the Swiss Confederation and citizens from third countries.
For the recognition of the status of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, the applicant submits the recognition file to the "Aurel Vlaicu" University of Arad, file which must include the following documents:
a) Recognition application;
b) Identity document and proof of name change (if applicable);
c) Doctoral degree, if the study document is obtained in Romania or at one of the accredited higher education institutions listed in the List of prestigious universities from other states, approved by order of the Minister of National Education and Scientific Research and periodically updated, or the recognition certificate issued by CNRED, if the study document was obtained at other accredited higher education institutions abroad;
d) Degree/certificate attesting the status of doctoral supervisor or habilitation, issued by the institutions specified in art. 5, para (1) and (2); e) CV and list of publications & scientific contributions. The file is registered after the verification of documents.
