Recognition of the professional qualification of probation counselor based on a qualification title*
Recognition of professional qualification based on a qualification title allows the applicant to access the profession of probation counselor in Romania under the same conditions as Romanian citizens, namely to participate in the competition provided in art. 19-21 of Law no. 123/2006 regarding the status of probation personnel, with subsequent amendments and completions.
By qualification title is meant any diploma or other official qualification title issued by an authority from a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation, under the conditions of art. 51 para. (2) of Law no. 200/2004, with subsequent amendments and completions.
Competition stages:
1. Publication of the competition announcement and candidate registration
2. Selection of files and display of results
3. Submission of appeals for file selection
4. Resolution of appeals and display of results following file selection
5. Written test/ display of grading scheme
6. Appeal to grading scheme
7. Resolution of appeals to grading scheme
8. Correction of papers and publication of results for the written test
9. Submission of appeals for the written test
10. Resolution of appeals and publication of results
11. Interview test/ display of grading scheme
12. Publication of results at the interview stage
13. Submission of appeals regarding the results obtained at the interview
14. Resolution of appeals at the interview and display of results
15. Medical and psychological testing

Recognition of the professional qualification of probation counselor based on professional experience*
The procedure is intended for any citizen of a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation who wishes to practice the profession of probation counselor in Romania.
The procedure for testing skills and knowledge of the Romanian language, for the purpose of recognizing the applicant's professional qualification, is carried out under the conditions of Law no. 123/2006 regarding the status of probation staff, with subsequent amendments and completions, as well as Law no. 200/2004 regarding the recognition of diplomas and professional qualifications for regulated professions in Romania, with subsequent amendments and completions.
The professional qualification of probation counselor is certified based on a qualification title or, if applicable, professional experience.
Recognition of professional qualification based on professional experience grants the applicant the right to practice the profession of probation counselor in Romania under the same conditions as Romanian citizens, being able to be employed in a vacant position with the rank corresponding to the recognized seniority.
Professional experience means the actual and legal exercise, full-time or partial equivalent, of the profession of probation counselor in a member state of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation.
