The procedure describes the documents required for submitting the application file for the issuance of an identity card as a result of changing the domicile from abroad to Romania (repatriation).
Applications are submitted at the Civil Status Service, located at Bd. Al.Lăpuşneanu no.116 C, inside City Park Mall - first floor, new wing.
Romanian citizens with domicile abroad who wish to change their domicile to Romania must present themselves at the Civil Status Service in whose territorial jurisdiction the property where they are establishing their domicile is located.
The documents must be presented in ORIGINAL - legalized copies are not accepted
Civil status certificates presented by the applicant must be issued by the Romanian civil status offices.
Applicants whose birth or marriage has not been registered in Romanian civil status registers will request the transcription of civil status certificates obtained abroad, both for themselves and for their minor children.
In the event that only one parent changes domicile from abroad to Romania, together with minor children, the consent of the other parent is required, given in authentic form at the diplomatic mission or consular office of Romania abroad, or a copy of the final, irrevocable court decision endowed with the enforcement formula, by which the children were entrusted to the parent changing domicile to Romania.
*Upon issuance of the identity card, the Romanian passport with domicile abroad of the applicant will be cancelled, and if the applicant no longer holds this document, a declaration to this effect will be given.
