The professional maternal assistant is the individual, certified according to the law, who, through the activity carried out at their home, ensures the upbringing, care, and education necessary for the harmonious development of the children they receive in foster care.
Who can be a professional maternal assistant?
A person who can be a professional maternal assistant:
-has a minimum of 10 grades
-is aged between 25 - 52 years, at the time of the evaluation
-has full legal capacity, and through their behavior in society, health status, and psychological profile, provides guarantees for correctly fulfilling the obligations of a parent concerning their own;
-has at their disposal a home that meets the needs for meal preparation, hygiene, education, and rest for its users, including those of the children who are to be received in foster care;
-has the consent of the entire family they live with, to receive and care for a child in their home;
-a person who carries out salaried activity, only on the condition of terminating the individual employment contract based on which that salaried activity is carried out
Who cannot be a professional maternal assistant
-a person who has suffered a conviction by a final court decision for intentionally committing a crime;
-parent deprived of parental rights or whose child has been declared abandoned by a final court decision
-a person suffering from chronic communicable diseases
How can you become a professional maternal assistant?
Persons residing in Arad County who are interested in becoming a professional maternal assistant should contact for more information the Case Management Service for Children – Maternal Assistance within the DGASPC Arad, str. Iustin Marsieu no. 22 A, ground floor, room 7, tel. 0257/250325 where they will submit an evaluation request accompanied by the documents mentioned below.
Following the submission of the evaluation request, the applicant's capacity to care for children will be evaluated. This evaluation can last a maximum of 90 days, and during this period the applicant and their family members will be involved in various activities.
The procedure for evaluating the applicant and their family consists of 2 stages:
-initial evaluation stage
-preparation stage
The certificate is issued by the Child Protection Commission Arad and is valid for 3 years.

Persons who consider themselves unfairly treated by the response received from DGASPC Arad may address the administrative litigation court under Law no. 544/2004.
